I’ve been making this Red Wine London Broil for a while. It’s definitely my favorite of all the London Broil recipes that I’ve tried because it’s guaranteed to come out soft and it practically takes no time at all. Greg had been to a wine tasting event and the host served this meat. He like it so much that he brought home the leftovers. My task was to recreate it at home. This is the simplified version that can be made by any home cook. You reduce a bottle of red wine to about 1/4 of its volume. (Use half now and freeze the rest for the rest for the next time ) Add 1/4 cup olive oil, 4 cloves of minced garlic, a teaspoon of salt and olive oil. Let the meat marinate overnight and then grill on high heat for about 4 minutes on each side. One of the secrets is using this tool. It really helps the marinade penetrate the meat. The other secret is the red wine. The acidity really helps soften the meat. This meat tastes great at room temperature and is perfect for a sandwich. The full recipe is below.
- 2 lbs of London Broil
- 2 cups of red wine
- 4 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- Reduce red wine by cooking on a medium to a low flame until its reduced to about ½ cup
- Using a blade meat tenderizer poke holes on both sides of the meat
- Add all ingredients to a ziploc bag making sure that marinade touches all the meat
- Refrigerate overnight
- Set grill on high heat
- Grill for 4-5 minutes on each side
- Let meat rest for 10 minutes and then slice and serve
