I grew up eating daikon radish with chicken soup. Every Friday night my mom would slice one into thin rounds and we’d take a bite along with a spoon full of chicken soup. So I’ve always been familiar with this radish. Daikon is super crunchy and not quite as sharp as a lot of other radishes. When you sauté it like you do for this recipe of Sautéed Daikon Radish, it loses it’s sharpness but still maintains its flavor and crunchiness. This recipe is very simple. I use this peeler and it takes minutes to come together. This recipe can be served as a side or as a vegan appetizer.
- One daikon radish
- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 2 minced cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- Julienne the radish using a peeler like this
- Add sesame oil to a deep frying pan with garlic and ginger
- Sauté until fragrant
- Add radish and sauté for about 10 minutes until it begins to soften but not too soft
- Add soy sauce and vinegar and toss until coated
- Remove from flame
- Serve with chopped chives

We love love this recipe and do over and over again. Easy and tasteful !
