I’m sure many of you have had mock crab. Mock shrimp is actually quite similar but with a slightly chewier texture. As part of our kosher diet, we don’t eat shell fish but this is made out pollock and shaped like shrimp. It looks like shrimp when cooked but that’s where the similarity ends. It tastes absolutely amazing when prepared properly. This mock shrimp is prepared with various Asian condiments and one of my favorite herbs, cilantro. As my sister Naomi says, it’s pure deliciousness. I like to serve this as an appetizer.
Asian Fusion Mock Shrimp
Ingredients
- 3 packages mock shrimp
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoons gochujang or 1 teaspoon sriracha
- ½ cup chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Add all ingredients except the mock shrimp to a large bowl
- Mix well
- Add mock shrimp
- Refrigerate for 2 hours and up to 8 to marinade
- In a large frying pan, sauté shrimp in 2 batches until they are browned on both sides
- Serve
